The N.S.S. utilizes the leisure time of students for two years of their College / School studies in various kinds of social service which not only help the community but also provide anopportunity to the students to appreciate the conditions prevailing in the community. Theultimate aim is to promote national consciousness and a sense of social responsibility as well as dignity of labour amongst students.
YOUTH RED CROSS
The YRC unit of this College works according to the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement, which areas follows: Humanity, Impartiality, Independence, Unity and Universality.
Interested, dedicated boys and girls can be enrolled as the members of the unit.
The unit organizes various social service camps and also participates in different training camps arranged by other Colleges of YRC state branch.
SDTP FOR GIRLS
A maiden endeavor in response to the alarming increase of cases of atrocity against women in the state, is a highly laudable scheme: self-defense training program for girls introduced by the Dept. of Higher Education, in which principals of all govt. and private colleges have been urged upon to impart self-defense training to the girl students with immediate effect to make them self reliant and protect themselves from antisocial elements. This program was initiated from 14.01.2014.
Associations and Clubs
Consequent upon the decision to merge Higher Secondary Education with the Department of school and Mass Education, the provision to hold Election in junior colleges/
H.S. School was abolished. However, the associations constituted earlier will remain functional with Vice Presidents and nominated students representatives from Arts/ Science and Commerce streams from 1st year and 2nd Year classes for the smooth function of extracurricular activities in an academic session.

S.C.S. Junior College has carved a niche of its own amongst the premier +2 colleges of Odisha. Christened “ Government Evening College” in 1966 it transformed into“ Government Morning College” and subsequently rename das “S.C.S. Morning College” over a period of time. On separation of +2 from degree in 2001, The degree wing of S.C.S.  Morning College merged with SCS College and +2 wing of S.C.S. College merged with S.C.S. Morning College occasioning the birth of “S.C.S. Junior College” and the transition came to end after it was taken over by S.M. Education dept, necessitating a change of nomenclature. Since its birth has been excelling exponentially in all scholastic spheres, boasting of an impressive academic track record. Today it stands as a pillar of pride churning out thousands of students. It has its share of hurdles, but it has    overcome    them    with    fortitude    and    dignity.    Christened after Mohamohapadhyaya Samanta Chandra Sekhar, an immensely gifted astrologer from Odisha, this College has embarked upon the loftiestmission of disseminating knowledge to the young and ambitious learners coming from the nook and corner of the state in pursuit of knowledge. The College has achieved unparalleled academic excellence, turning teachers’ endeavour into students’ success while bearing the lofty responsibility of carrying forward the unforgettable Gracy of Mohamohapadhyaya Samanta Chandra Sekhar.
